Walmart WeatherMaxx Winter tires
Noticed that walmart now carries an Arctic WeatherMaxx tire line whuchare on sale this week. Anyone with any experience with these? They seem to be different than last years weathermate tires. Any idea who manufactures these?

Walmart usually have their store brand tires made in China by the Shandong Hengyu Technology Group
We can go into the debate of buying name brands vs chinese made unknown ones for days lol . I guess if you don't do much driving and live in an area where there's not much snow they'd be just fine .

I was gonna guess Hong Ting Manufacturing Concern but ^ looks to have the real name. Never heard of the real one either though.

Bottom line is
If Walmart carries them, they should meet safety standards.
Being winter tires, they should perform better than most all season tires in cold weather.

The "probably" do, or you are just pulling a number out of the air?
They are "T" rated by the way, which is 118mph (190kmh)

No experience with them but just remember the worst snow tire is better than the best all-season when the temperature hits 7 degrees Celsius or below. Odds are they wont last 4 winters like the name brands.

Size does matter a lot when it comes to prices of winter tires. The ones selling for $30 are probably those with a ridiculously small wheel size that (e.g. R13) that not many vehicles other than the smallest ones use anyway. Take a more common size e.g. 205/55R16 for my Civic EX, and you've got a price of 86.96 for one rated at 91T.
Then I see a new one from a tire store selling Barum Polaris 3 with the same size for only $100 each. It's a no brainer which one to pick.

Better than all-seasons, but the treads are often not as "thick" as brand-name tires, so they won't last as long.

Weathermaxx are Nexen tires, made in Korea.
They've been around for about 70 years.
Are they top end? No. Are they bottom end? No.
I have some and I've been happy with them.

I have often wondered about that decree, especially when we are told that once a tire has been rolling even in winter they heat up enough to increase the tire pressure by as much as 5 pounds.
Dun with posting deals.

I agree you get what you pay for and I agree any winter tires are better than all-seasons.

I use the *****tiest made in china tires you can get. I got them for like $400/set brand new. They last about 3 seasons and perform okay in snow. HArd to say b/c I used them on a RWD... so everything felt like it was slipping.

The compound of the tire works its best at 7 degrees Celsius and below. Don`t forget all that is taken into consideration when the engineers design the tire.
